Miami International Auto Show Closes Successful Show

The 46th annual Miami International Auto Show presented by Ally which featured Global debuts of the 2017 Nissan Rogue, 2017 Nissan Sentra and the 2017 Ford F-150 STX closed a successful nine-day run on Sunday, September 18th. 

“We were happy that the crowds made their way to the Miami Beach Convention Center to see what’s new in the auto industry in spite of the concerns of the Zika virus which has impacted the Miami Beach area,” said Rick Baker, auto show manager.  “We had other challenges as well with the show opening two months earlier than normal due to renovations at the Convention Center and the area’s construction which made getting to the show extremely difficult for visitors. We thank our visitors for supporting the auto show.” 

 Considered among America’s top five Auto Shows, the Miami show presented several hundred new cars, crossovers and SUV’s from the major manufacturers. It’s the first major auto show of the season.  

Major announcements were made in Miami by such lines as Nissan, Fiat, Genesis, Ford, Toyota, Lexus, Volkswagen, Honda and Alfa Romeo. Hundreds of national and international journalists attended the Media Day activities. 

The official show car of the 46th edition auto show was the 2017 Highlander Limited Platinum Hybrid and the giveaway car was the 2017 Chevy Cruze LS with a MSRP of $19,995.

The popular Million Dollar Alley exhibit presented a number of exotics from Bugatti, Ferrari and Lamborghini as well as Paganis priced at over $1 million. 

Among the other popular exhibits were Camp Jeep which offered attendees the opportunity for an off-road Jeep experience that demonstrated the legendary 4x4 capabilities of Jeep vehicles and the Topless in Miami exhibit which presented winning drop tops from the annual competition sponsored by the Southern Automotive Media Association (SAMA).

Show goers were also able to enjoy Miami Beach’s famed Ocean Drive backdrop when getting behind the wheel of selected new models from manufacturers like Kia, Nissan, Mazda, Toyota and Chevrolet during the show's Ride & Drive opportunities. 

Ally’s “New Car Smell” exhibit was a welcome addition to the popular Cars Meet Art display, enabling consumers to explore eight new car scents that reflected the spirit and style of both car and driver, or create their own unique virtual scent using an interactive iPad app. Internationally-recognized artist DUAIV showcased his vibrantly painted Corvette Z06 C7R Special Edition in the exhibit. 

The auto show is presented by the South Florida Automobile Dealers Association which comprises more than 190 dealerships in Miami-Dade, Broward, Palm Beach and Monroe counties making it larger than some state-wide auto dealer groups. The 47th annual Miami International Auto Show has been tentatively scheduled for September 9-17.
